Bolivian by birth, Texan by design and self-proclaimed foodie - Dr. Ruiz is everything you need in an eye doctor!

Dr. Amy Jones

Dr. Amy Jones is a caring, residency-trained optometrist passionate about providing high quality eye care to patients here in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Jones was born and raised in Southern California, where she attended UCLA for undergrad and studied Biology. Both of her parents worked in healthcare, and she was always interested in a career where she could help people. After working as a technician at her family friend's pediatric and vision therapy optometry office, she decided optometry would be the perfect fit. Dr. Jones could get to know patients personally while solving their vision problems. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in 2020.

After graduation, Dr. Jones moved across the country to Boston, Massachusetts, where she completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Primary Care at the Boston Veterans Affairs Healthcare System and later worked at a boutique practice in the Greater Boston area.

The search for sunnier weather and better tacos led Dr. Jones and her partner, Jeremy, to Central Texas. She feels fortunate to now call Texas home and to be providing great eye care to the wonderful families in Austin.

Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys exploring new restaurants and taking in the beautiful scenery of Texas Hill Country on weekends.

Dr. Jones is excited to be seeing patients at all three Austin locations of Westlake Eyecare! She will not only be doing general eye exams but also continuing care of the practice's myopia management patients.
